Meet NIKIKO

SNIPPETS: THE BEGINNING

“I wanna remain a human being and not become a number” (translated from Austrian songwriter Wolfgang Ambros’ song “A Mensch möcht' i bleib’n”), that’s a song line NIKIKO’s parents remembered her singing when she was just three years old. So, from the very beginning she loved singing and dancing. Her father’s guitar playing and singing, plus his eclectic music collection of hits ranging from “The Beatles” to “Led Zeppelin” and many more, were early sources of inspiration.

  • At the age of 16, NIKIKO got her first taste of live performance when she joined her school band as a singer. Being on stage in these early years gave her a glimpse of life as a performer and awakened her hunger to become a professional singer. From then on, she began to follow the call of destiny.
  • After high school she went on to study jazz singing at the Schubert conservatory in Vienna. Following her music studies NIKIKO spent a few years expanding her vocal chops in a variety of bands performing everything from jazz, soul, reggae, pop to hip hop and rock. Then she met studio producer Florian Glaszer and this meeting triggered an intense collaboration of songwriting and recording.  This project culminated in the production of 3 albums under the Anik Kadinski pseudonym. Chart positionings, radio & TV airplay of videos followed.
  • After some years NIKIKO decided to expand her musical prowess and knowledge through further studies at the Vienna Music Institute. On a more personal track, she also began a process of inner exploration and self-discovery through a number of developmental programs including “The Artist’s Way” exercises, meditation and quantum healing sessions. As she gained new insights, she began to channel her new understanding into her musical works and performances.

SNIPPETS: THE NOW

  • In early 2019, she began recording and co-producing her latest works with Jamaican musician/studio producer, Lee Xanadu. These songs that have been accumulating over the last few years, reflect her emotional upheavals, unfolding insights and new experiences that came along with a more authentic lifestyle.
  • Unlike her previous projects, the new album represents much more of her personal musical identity. This was due to Lee challenging her to bring her ideas to every aspect of the creative process. This included inspiring her to learn to use cutting edge digital tools in her own home studio and to experiment with the vocals at her own pace without the typical studio recording pressures.
